Meet Ashleigh Rivers
Ashleigh Rivers, E-RYT 200
My Story
Ashleigh started her yoga journey in 2005 while in massage school in the Asheville, NC area. She began to dive deeper into her practice of yoga, and in 2013, she received her 200-hour YTT certification from the Sakhi Yoga School. She began teaching yoga, working mostly with older populations, and in April 2022 will become a graduate of Sakhi’s inaugural 300/500-hour Yoga Teacher Training.
Ashleigh’s Liberal Arts upbringing led her to pursue many things in college, finally settling on two, and graduated with a degree in Theatre and Religious Studies in 2004 from Brevard College. From childhood through college Ashleigh had always been someone people went to for a shoulder rub, etc. so she decided to pursue massage therapy as a career path. She graduated from The Center for Massage and Natural Health in 2005. She came back to Columbia in 2007 and soon founded RASA Whole Self Health, LLC.
In 2018, Ashleigh started taking classes to meet the requirements to further prepare for work in the health and medical care profession. While taking another anatomy class, she began exploring the biomechanics of yoga asana more. She began to reevaluate some of the things many of us have been taught over the years and continues to study these concepts in her own body, the bodies of students, clients, and anyone who is willing to let her. Always exploring and developing new ways to communicate cuing for healthy alignment in yoga, Ashleigh will forever be learning about the body, biomechanics, and yoga. SCLMBT #4615
